Get A Free Vending

You may have heard the old saying
"Nothing is free in this world!" That person wasn't a
vending machine operator. All those vending machines that
you see while driving down the road, in your schools, at
work, in the hospitals or grocery, even the vending machines
you see in bank buildings are provided there for Free! Now
the products in them isn't normally free, but the vending
equipment expense, hours of labor each week preparing the
products, traveling to the location, cleaning the machines,
and maintenance or repair are completely paid by the
vending
service company or small vending operator.
Hopefully, the snack and soda
products sold will generate enough cash to cover their
product costs, including items not eaten such as drinks
or expired items such as chips - pastries -sandwiches-
etc..., and cover all the above expenses enough that a
rewarding return is left for the vendor to buy more
products and enjoy a night out on the town with his/her
spouse :-) Actually vending machine profits can be very
rewarding, but it is hard work.
Often, companies needing a
vending service are ready to front this expense with
plans of having someone in-house stocking the vending
machines. Like anything, this option has pro's and
con's.
The pro's:
- that the location gets to
manage the profits
- to offer the products to their staff at cost or
- keep the profits or
- use the profits to fund an employee Christmas party / benevolent fund / etc...
- the location has full control over the products offered their staff
- the security of knowing your vendor won't disappear of provide poor service
The con's:
- the upfront expense of buying the vending machines and snack, soda, cold food products
- finding someone to happily accept another job responsibility
- getting the vending machines repaired if needed
- risk of product spoilage since there are no other machines to increase the chances of a favorable buyer
- the hassle of pulling all that money! Just kidding, that's the fun part even if it's not your money :-)
From an outside vending
service company, there are generally two pricing options
that most vending route operators can offer: a low
product pricing schedule to provide an additional
company benefit to the employees or snack & soda pricing
that reflects a built in commission payable to the
location or its owner. The commission may sound nice;
just depends on the priorities of your company and
employee/management relationship.
